The Newman School

BWK Construction has been selected to develop a Master Plan for The Newman School, which is located in Boston’s historic Back Bay. BWK is serving as the Construction Manager for the interior and exterior renovations, which are to be phased over the next three years.

The initial phases of the building program have sought to create a weather-tight exterior shell with the replacement of the roofing system and windows, as well as the repointing of the masonry. All exterior renovations have been subject to review by the Back Bay Architectural Commission. Subsequent phases will entail the installation of a passenger elevator, improvements to the MEP systems, expansion of the IT infrastructure and refurbishment of the classrooms and common areas. The replication of architectural details on the interior and exterior allows the School to retain its character while it focuses on enhanced accessibility, energy efficiency and technological advancement.
